Sr. Josephine's funeral

The custom in America is to have a time for family, friends, and the Sisters to have a visititation in the presence of the body of the deceased. We had this visitation done at Alvernia Manor on Friday, December 28, 2007 from 14.30 until 20.00 in the evening. Because it was at Alvernia Manor many of the retired and infirm Sisters were able to attend as well as many members of Sr. Josephine's family and students she had taught. At 19.00 a Prayer Service took place.

On the morning of December 29th Sr. Josephine's body was brought to the Province chapel in Mt. Assisi Convent. The Mass of the Resurrection took place at 10.00. The chapel was filled with Sisters, family, and friends. We were very pleased to have Reverend Mother Sr. Natalija Palac, Sr. Bernardka Stopar, and Sr. Sandra Zorko also present for the funeral.

After the Mass Sr. Josephine's body was taken to St. Alphonsus Cemetery in Lemont (about 3 km from the Provincial House) where all of our Sisters are buried. A short prayer service took place in the cemetery as well, and then all present were invited back to the Provincial House for dinner.

We thank all the Sisters of our Congregation for their prayers, messages of support, and offerings on behalf of Sr. Josephine. It is very nice to know that she is remembered so fondly by many of the Sisters in our Congregation. You will find attached to this e-mail a brief biography of Sr. Josephine.

Let us continue to keep each other in prayer.
